Why you should not apply to an accelerator
Here's the thing, we've just opened our applications to next 2 programs, but then our team mate & MD of B2B SaaS batch Alexandra Balkova (also known as Machete master) goes on and writes a Facebook post, why you should NOT apply! And really, sometimes you should not..
You should NOT apply to an accelerator program, if:
You know everything
Or you think you know everything. Go take over the world. Nobody stops you.
You don’t have time
Once you are running your startup, you are dedicating 100% of your time to it. However, in the acceleration program, you have to devote 100% of your time to run your newly born business + 100% of the time to the acceleration program. So we have 200% of the time here. Oops.
Though, if you have trouble managing your first five clients and your two developers, and you don’t have additional time to learn how to do it better, then wish you luck with managing 1000 clients and 50 members team.
You don’t need a global network
And basically, if you don’t want to talk to people. You don’t need to love doing it, but you have to (if you are a CEO/founder) at least try. However, if you don’t need a broad network of entrepreneurs, investors, genius tech geeks, sales professionals, etc. — you don’t need to talk. Stay in your comfort zone, stay calm. Or as Ilya Azovtsev would put it: “Wash hands with soap & love mama”
You need only money
C’mon guys, you can get a loan from a bank. Accelerators are about people & knowledge value, not only about the investment.
You don’t want to have fun
With tequila nights, sauna, and hot tub. Unfortunately, you won’t find this offer everywhere.
You are a jerk
No comments here, this is my personal opinion based on the lack of desire to deal with unpleasant people.
You are Elon Musk
Though, Elon, I personally promise you that you’ll have a fast-track in our scouting process if you apply.
So the applications to SWG next two batches are officially open on startupwiseguys.com. Early stage Fintech and B2B SaaS startups are welcome. But you have plenty of reasons now, why to stay home!
